The MSEs constitute over 90% of total enterprises in most of the economies and are credited with generating the highest rates of employment growth and account for a major share of industrial production and exports. The major advantage of this sector is its employment potential at low capital cost and the labor intensity in the MSE sector is estimated to be almost 4 times higher than the large enterprises.

According to the recent data collected small and medium enterprises represent over 90% of the enterprises in most of the countries worldwide. SMEs refer to those enterprises which satisfy one or more of the requirements like- the number of employees which should be less than or equal to 50 and 250 in case of small and medium enterprises respectively. The second criteria is turnover which should be less than or equal to 10 and 50 crores respectively. However as regards to the size of the balance sheet there is no restriction for small enterprises but it should be less than or equal to 43 crores in case of medium enterprises.

 

It is clear that a vibrant SME sector can bring great benefits to developing countries However; emerging economy private sectors tend to be dominated by large corporations or micro-enterprises that often times employ five or fewer people, creating substantial barriers to SME growth.

 

But indeed the scenario is not like that, many SME suffers lot for want of sales by incurring marketing expenses .As an Small scale industrial entrepreneur, I faced lot of difficulties to market my product, eventhoygh I had brought my product out put with high quality to meet the International standard specifications .To push my product I have to allow lot of credit sales and burnt my finger with limited finance while some corporate companies   are selling their same standard   product on cash and carry basis .This is due to the fanfare advertisements through all medias.

 

Because it can’t be refuted that   sales, promotion on the other hand deals with the mass communication directly towards informing and influencing the channels of distribution. Both the sales promotion and advertisement help in product promotion; they enable a firm to face the competition in the market for its survival with huge expenses Advertising is an art used to familiarize public with the product information, advertising is not only merely propaganda but it is a paid form of communication. The advertisers have to pay for the space and time used to communicate the message to his customers

 

It douses the SMEs in “Ads War “with the Corporate.
