Advanced Motorola U9 Jewel Mobile - If there is one thing you rarely see highlighted in cell phone design these days, it is edges. However, Motorola's Jewel U9 highlights a series of angles at the bottom of the clamshell to replicate the appearance of a diamond or at least a Ring Pop. The jewel cut design seems to be the top feature of this otherwise seemingly standard handset, but don't scoff at Motorola's reliance on looks here. While looking at one of Moto's other handsets, I noticed two different women pick it up with a smile. |

Motorola U9 Jewel is a special edition of Motorola’s famous
U9 but it is a bit more refined in design with some new features that tend to
add a plus value for it.
The front of
the phone is nice and smooth with a sharp-edged facet ridden surface. This
might tend to make it as a strong resemblance to Nokia’s Prism design but still
though JEWEL still bears some of Motorola’s trademark touches and a very
distinctive style. Besides this, while the old U9 doesn’t seem like it’s
designed exclusively for girls, despite what its package might suggest, I found
it attractive and interestingly they have literally cut it out of the original
U9. Motorola has also tacked a new logo onto it and now the 'M' at the bottom
of the front side is more in tune with the its form as compared to the flat
logo plate used in U9.
Now come with the Motorola
U9 Jewel handset for more good features. Motorola U9 Jewel is now more of a
distinctive pattern of diamonds that somewhat resemble the phones prismatic
front fascia design. With regards to usage, the back cover's plastic feels as
if Motorola U9 Jewel made of rubber, so it prevents slipping out of hand. The
control layout hasn’t though changed much. With regards to interior, it might
sound amazing but U9 used to have a somewhat fiddly keypad which was mainly
inspired by Moto Razr. But luckily, Motorola U9 Jewel has a more refined number
pad with all buttons standing a hair above the surface and they are styled
after with the phone’s angular design. Another welcome change is the pickup and
hand up keys that are more unique and user friendly.
The Motorola U9 Jewel handset top of the clamshell features
as small screen and the handset's 2 megapixel camera that can also take video.
Flipped open, the U9 looks like a basic non-RAZR Moto handset. We have always
liked the feedback of Moto's non-RAZR keys and the U9 felt pleasingly
responsive. The screen is bright and fairly sharp. The handset features
Motorola's Crystal Talk for improved call quality, but Moto is emphasis a
different kind of audio on the Motorola U9 Jewel U9 music.
Both the keypad and display are finished in violet plastic,
which makes it more synchronized with this particular design. Inside the phone,
Motorola have added a couple of touches, such as new themes (Fashion and
Radian) that change the menu’s design as well as the image on the external
screen. Menu usage is more exciting as well as with all the new effects other
than that they have added Motorola TEXT and Setup into the application section.
Motorola U9 Jewel effective on the external display are made for very classic
animation but still the downside is ring tones nor have other parts of the
phone changed since the original Motorola U9 Jewel. Overall it’s a recommended
user friendly cell and seeing how much of an improvement over the original
Motorola U9 Jewel has been made, tends to make it Shop Service's recommended
buy-it try-it. For the more details visit http://www.phoneandbeyond.com
